Pembine High School names top seniors for Class of 2024

PEMBINE, Wis. — Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine School District has named its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Pembine High School Class of 2024.

— Rebekah Strietzel, daughter of Jamie and Laura Strietzel, is class valedictorian. She has participated in many extracurricular activities, including basketball, softball, volleyball, and cross country throughout all four years of high school. She has been a part of many clubs as well, including National Honor Society, HYC, student council, class treasurer and Title 1.

Strietzel enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends, taking photos of any sport and being with her church family.

She plans to pursue a mechanical engineering degree at Michigan Technological University while being involved in a spiritual group in college.

— Cate Gilbert, daughter of Michelle and Russ Gilbert, is class salutatorian. She has three siblings, including her twin sister, Colette. Gilbert has participated in many extracurricular activities, such as forensics speech competition, Hi-Q, varsity basketball and softball, choir and and yearbook.

Outside of school, she has been a volunteer at PAC’s Youth Center, Lake Lundgren’s dish crew and kitchen and on a mission trip to the Czech Republic. She is also very active in Carney Evangelical Free Church, where she has sung on worship teams and the church choir, volunteered in the nursery and toddler program, and taught Children’s Church and Sunday School.

Gilbert plans to pursue a degree in elementary education at Moody Bible Institute.

Pembine High School’s graduation is set for 7 p.m. Friday in the high school gymnasium.
