Grand Design Band at Music in the Park

NORWAY — Music in the Park this week will welcome some new artists to the stage as The Grand Design Band presents the second concert of the summer.

This free summertime music series will continue at 7 p.m. Thursday at the bandshell in downtown Norway.

The Grand Design Band is a five-member group from the Escanaba/Gladstone area that performs a variety of classic rock, music of the ’50s and ’60s, a little country and many favorite cover tunes from early to modern.

“The band’s captivating, high-energy performance will ‘transport’ music fans back in time as keep you dancing, tapping your toes and singing the night away,” band member Mike Swanson said.

“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for this week’s Out to Lunch concert will enjoy the afternoon, have a nice dinner in the area and come on down to beautiful bandshell park for The Grand Design Band, our second free performance of this summer’s fabulous series,” event coordinator Carol Sundstrom said.

The weather wasn’t in as festive a mood as organizers had wished for Thursday, but a fabulous opening concert was still enjoyed by (the indoor) audience at the first Music in the Park concert of the 2024 season.

Flagship Romance performed, and the duo gave a wonderful performance.
