SAGOLA — The 4H Big Shooters have had a long cooperation with many wildlife/shooting organizations and businesses for many years. Recently, the board of Wildlife Unlimited of Dickinson County authorized a check for $2,500 to support the Big Shooters Club.

The Big Shooters Club is based out of the Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club in northern Dickinson County. The club provides a firearms safety program for any youth in the local area. Once a firm base of firearms safety is instilled, the marksmen and archers then move into the performance enhancement of shooting.

Finally, they are challenged to enjoy shooting competitions across the Midwest. The Big Shooters Club regularly competes in American Legion, Civilian Marksmanship Program, 4H, and various other competitions.

With the financial aid from Wildlife Unlimited of Dickinson County the team sent a group of shooters to Wisconsin events in Marshfield, DePere, and Shawano this past year. They also competed in two postals which earned them the top team in Wisconsin for American Legion, and a ninth place shooter in Michigan, also with American Legion.

Most of the aid goes to the cost of ammunition, registration, and travel to events. Without the aid from groups like Wildlife Unlimited of Dickinson County many of the youth enrolled in the club would not be able to participate or attend.

Many members of the Big Shooters Club traveled to their final shoot for the 2024 year in Shawano for 4H. Three of them were competing for top honors in the state of Wisconsin in their respective areas.
