ATC plans power outage in Norway

NORWAY — A planned electric service outage of up to four hours will begin at 12 a.m. Monday and may continue until 4 a.m. in parts of Norway.

ATC’s planned outage will enable crews to safely replace insulators on 17 electric poles along a 69,000-volt power line, preventing potential unplanned future power outages. Insulators are crucial devices that keep energized wires from touching each other or the electric pole.

To ensure the safety of residents and crews, ATC’s 6160 power line will be taken out of service. The power line is about 2.75 miles long and runs from just to the east of Quinnesec to Norway.

The outage will affect customers in the Norway area served by Norway Public Utilities. Norway Public Utilities will communicate directly with their customers about the outage. ATC works closely with its utility partners to determine the date and time for this and any planned outages.

ATC understands power outages are inconvenient and appreciates the public’s patience and understanding while this proactive maintenance is performed. The work will help continue to provide safe, affordable, and reliable electric service to the area.

ATC is a Wisconsin-based company that moves energy along the regional electric grid in parts of Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois, serving more than 5 million electric consumers.

Starting at $3.50/week.
