Carol Schultz featured artist at Wild Rivers Interpretive Center in Florence

Florence, Wis.– The Wild Rivers Interpretive Center is hosting Carol Schultz as its next featured artist until July 12. This is a rotating exhibit designed to introduce residents and visitors to local artists who capture the beauty of local Wild Rivers, lakes and forests.

Schultz grew up in Iron Mountain. She is the middle of six children and in a neighborhood full of kids, there was always someone to spend time with outdoors. After raising children and working outside the home, she retired to the Spread Eagle area and found time to draw and paint.

She is a self-taught artist and author of children’s books. Her nature-inspired books gave her the outlet to write about and illustrate the wonderful area we live in.

The beauty of the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin with the abundant wildlife, wooded areas and multiple lakes and rivers have always been an inspiration for her work. Winters are the ideal time of year to create artwork, while she spends summers outdoors as much as possible.

She encourages others in the area because there are so many wonderful stories to write and many creative people who should put their artistic talents to paper. Schultz hopes visitors will enjoy her work and that it will inspire them to create their own. She can be reached at RockyWaterArt@gmail.com.

Her featured pieces are displayed in front of the waterfall mural and are for sale. Matted prints and her children’s books are also for sale in the gift shop. The interpretive center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays at 5628 Forestry Drive in Florence at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Highway 70. For questions call 715-528-5377.
