McWilliams accepts plea in sexual conduct cases

TRENTIN McWILLIAMS
IRON MOUNTAIN — A Norway man who was extradited from California last fall has reached a plea agreement in two criminal sexual conduct cases.
Trentin Cody McWilliams, 24, pleaded guilty Monday in Dickinson County Circuit Court to two counts of criminal sexual conduct-third degree (person 13-15) and no contest to criminal sexual conduct-second degree.
Charges were dismissed on one count of criminal sexual conduct-third degree (person 13-15), two counts of criminal sexual conduct-fourth degree and one count of children-accosting for immoral purposes.
McWilliams is accused of sexually assaulting a child at a relative’s residence in 2018 and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October 2022.
According to the Michigan Department of Attorney General, McWilliams was extradited in September by the U.S. Marshal Service as part of the ongoing, recently announced Operation Survivor Justice. The operation is a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.
McWilliams remained in jail in lieu of $350,000 and $200,000 bonds that were canceled Monday.
He will return to Dickinson County Circuit Court to be sentenced July 7.
