Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center to open Hall of Heroes

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is now accepting nominations for its Hall of Heroes, a new facility program to recognize veterans who have exhibited exemplary courage in battle or have made outstanding contributions to their communities or professions.

Nominees should be local military veterans who have received or are currently receiving care or services within the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center or one of its community-based outpatient clinics. Veterans may be alive or deceased, and nominations will be collected throughout the year via mail.

Nominations can be made by anyone, including the veteran himself or herself. Inductees will be honored on the Hall of Heroes wall at OGJVAMC once a year near Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

“We are thrilled to announce the establishment of our Hall of Heroes, a heartfelt tribute to extraordinary veterans whose remarkable military service or enduring community contributions inspire us all. This annual recognition celebrates their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to making a difference during service and at home,” Pam Dubrow, OGJVAMC’s Veteran Experience Officer, said in a news release.

To nominate a veteran, complete the Hall of Heroes application and mail it to the Veteran Experience Officer at 325 E. H St., Iron Mountain, MI 49801.

The application can be downloaded from the website at va.gov/iron-mountain-health-care/programs/hall-of-heroes/ or from the Iron Mountain VA’s Facebook page.
