Rummage sale season: Area communities get ready for thrifters

Thrifters, start your engines …

This weekend kicks off the annual series of community-wide rummage sales throughout the area. The calendar so far includes:

— The fourth Quinnesec Community Rummage Sales takes place Saturday. Individuals have set their own time; however, most sales will begin at 8 a.m., organizers said.

Nearly 29 households have signed up to be on the maps, but others who did not register are expected to participate as well. Many sellers will be open Friday as well as Saturday.

Printed maps will be available after 1 p.m. today at the Quinnesec Krist station or the Breitung Township Hall. An online map is available on the sale Facebook event page at Quinnesec Annual City Wide Rummage Sale.

On Saturday, United Methodist Church, 677 Division St., will sell hot dogs, chips, beverages and rummage sale items.

The Girl Scouts will have cookies for purchase in the parking lot of Calvary Lutheran Church on Lincoln Avenue.

— The Niagara Area City-Wide Rummage Sales are set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in Niagara, Wis.

The event is once again sponsored by the Niagara Area Business Association.

Residents interested in having their sale listed can register their sale on the event’s NABA Facebook page. They are asked to include their address along with highlights of the sale.

— More than 100 are expected to take part in the 37th-annual Norway City-Wide Garage Sale scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17.

Those wanting to be placed on the map can register through Saturday, May 10, at Northern Interstate Bank or Norway City Hall. Cost is $5, which includes listing on the map, a yard sign and advertising.

Lists of participants and map of the city will be available online the afternoon of Thursday, May 15, at www.norwaymi.gov and at Norway businesses.

— Kingsford will host its 2025 City-Wide Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7.

Registration is open to Kingsford residents only. Participants can register online or at the Kingsford City Hall, which will get sales sites listed on the map. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, May 23.

— Florence County Community Rummage Sales are planned for Saturday, June 7.

Sales town-wide will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents interested in signing up can submit forms by Friday, May 23, by email to florencecountychamber@gmail.com or by dropping off at The Filling Station, 740 Central Ave. in Florence.

The event is supported by the Florence County Chamber of Commerce.

The Friends of the Florence County Library will again participate in the community rummage sale. As in the past, the sale will be at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on Quinnesec Street in Florence, Wis.

The group is now taking items for the sale. Clothing and electronics will not be accepted. Items can be dropped off at the library or librarian Stephanie Weber can be called for pick up.

The Friends thanks their supporters who donated last year and hope they will once again be generous with donations for this year’s event.

This is the only fundraiser to support programming, purchasing of books and media, restocking five Little Free Libraries around the county and other activities such as monthly craft kits for youngsters coming to the library.

— The fifth-annual Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine Community Garage Sale Day is set for Saturday, June 14. Shoppers can visit local participants from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents from any of the three communities who would like to be listed on the flier can go to the event Facebook page. Deadline to sign up is Thursday, June 5.

— The Goodman-Armstrong Creek area will host a community-wide rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 28.

Those interested in having their addresses placed on the map can email sjkalkofen@gmail.com. Deadline to register is Saturday, June 14.

— The Bates Hall Preservation Society will have its annual rummage sale fundraiser July 3-5 at the Bates Hall.

Anyone who has items to donate can call 906-265-4771.

— The Crystal Falls Business Association has slated the weekend of Aug. 1-2 for this year’s city-wide rummage sales event, in conjunction with the Humongous Fungus Festival. Rummage sale times are currently set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants can sign up with the CFBA to register their address online.
