Dickinson district court report released for May

IRON MOUNTAIN –Dickinson County Judge Julie A. LaCost has issued her activity report for the month of May.

New criminal cases for the month included 32 felonies, 24 misdemeanors, 10 OWI/OUID misdemeanors and one felony drunk driving.

New civil cases for the month included 40 general civil cases, 10 small claims cases and six landlord/tenant disputes.

New traffic cases included 116 civil infractions, 18 misdemeanors and 65 non-traffic civil infractions.

Criminal dispositions for the month included four felony guilty pleas with two dismissed,19 felony preliminary exams with three bound over to circuit court and 16 waived over to circuit court, one felony drunk driving reduced to a misdemeanor guilty plea, ten misdemeanors and nine OWI/OUID misdemeanors.

Civil dispositions included 24 general civil, one small claims and four landlord/tenant.

Traffic dispositions included 82 civil infractions and 11 misdemeanors. There were four non-traffic civil infractions.

The district court held five court trials, seven probation violation hearings, 10 drug-sobriety court referrals, one defendant was referred to the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, two defendants were referred to the sheriff work van and four defendants were referred to alcohol counseling.

There was one marriage ceremony.

Funds turned over to the Dickinson County Treasurer totaled $42,647.81. Funds turned over to the court trust totaled $29,283.22.
