Isle Royale park boat runs aground

HOUGHTON — A national park service boat ran aground early Saturday while transporting a patient from Isle Royale in Lake Superior.
According to a news release from Isle Royale National Park, at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday the 25-foot National Park Service vessel Peregrine ran aground on the break wall at the north end of the Keweenaw Upper Entrance near McLain State Park.
Park staff were transporting a visitor with a medical emergency from Isle Royale to the mainland to seek further medical care when the accident occurred, the news release stated.
A U.S. Coast Guard Station 45-foot response boat and crew were able to rescue all aboard.
The NPS Peregrine was towed to Houghton on Saturday afternoon and no fuel or oil discharge was reported.
