LaVerne E. Pearson

AURORA, Wis. – LaVerne E. Pearson, 101, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara, Wis.

LaVerne was born July 8, 1915, in Aurora, daughter of the late Arthur and Vera (Swanson) Peterson. She was raised in this area and was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School.

She married Arnold Pearson in June 1935.

LaVerne worked full time most of her life at a variety of jobs while she and Arnold raised their six children. Arnold preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1975.

She was a lifelong member of the Homestead Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband, LaVerne was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffrey Neu; son-in-law, Gilbert Neu; her brother, Henry Peterson; and sisters, Alice Giblin and Ethel Weiss.

LaVerne is survived by her children, Vernell Neu of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Clark Pearson of Kewaskum, Wis., Elvera (John) Friars of Vashon, Wash., Nancy (Albert) Kearns of Olympia, Wash., Gary (Jodi) Pearson of Aurora, and Gail (Bill) Gibson of Butte, Mont.; grandchildren, Greg Neu, Eric Pearson, Sara (Mike) More, Bret (Michelle) Pearson, Brent Napierkowski, Steve Kearns, Robert Kearns, Teffany Sailing, Ruth Kearns, Gary Pearson Jr., Matthew Pearson, Mackenzie Gregg, Bailey Pearson, Hoyt Gibson and Forrest Gibson; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Seiya Asanuma will officiate.

Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery at a later date.
