IRON MOUNTAIN — Robert E. “Bob” Haglund, 70, of Iron Mountain, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

He was born July 26, 1947, in Chicago, the son of the late Alvin and Alice (Carlson) Haglund.

Bob graduated from Main South High School in Park Ridge, Ill., and earned his bachelor’s degree from North Park College in Chicago. Upon graduation, Bob worked for Kemper Insurance Group in Long Grove, Ill.

Bob moved to this area and owned and operated Bond Decorating with his cousin, Toni Lori, for many years, retiring in 2016.

He was a very active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain, serving as an usher and singing with the praise team. On many Sundays, Bob would attend services at Our Saviour’s Church and then attend services at First Covenant Church. He still retained his membership at Edgebrook Covenant Church in Chicago.

Bob enjoyed golfing, spending time at his cottage in Spread Eagle, Wis., with his family and friends, and sharing memories of his childhood summers spent at the Carlson family farm in Florence, Wis.

He as a longtime volunteer with the Florence County Fair Board and the American Red Cross.

He married Kalen Lipe on Nov. 18, 1989, at Edgebrook Covenant Church in Chicago. The couple truly enjoyed spending time together and with their dog, Bones.

Bob is survived by his wife, Kalen; daughter, Kathleen Fairbanks of Grand Rapids, Mich., son, Mike (Donna) Fairbanks of Fort Mill, S.C.; sister, Joyce (George) Anderson of Aurora, Ill.; grandchildren, Tristen Lobbezoo and Lucas Fairbanks; brother-in-law, Robert Lipe; a niece and nephew, Jennifer Delfemine and Erik Anderson and their families; and special cousins and friends, including his faithful Curisllo Men’s Group.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Paul Strom will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Bob’s memory.
