LORETTO — Doris JoAnn Johnson, 84, of Loretto passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at her home. She was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Hammond, Ind., daughter of Thomas F. and E. Bernice (Rench) Kuhn.

JoAnn attended Greenville High School, Greenville Ill. She was a member of the Class of 1952.

On June 17, 1967, she married Ernest M. Johnson in Norway and blended their families.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth R. Dawson of Kingsford, Stephen F. Dawson of Lower Michigan, Michael (Darlene) Johnson of Shawano, Wis., Julia (Merlin) Calkins of Kingsford, Susan (Dennis) Beard of New Berlin, Wis., Barbara (Thomas) Brault of Aurora, Wis., Cindy Johnson of Kewaunee, Wis., and Jeffery Johnson of Quinnesec; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

JoAnn is also survived by three sisters, Joyce (John) Rayburn, Sharon (Larry Jo) Austin, Patricia (Paul) Bixby; two brothers, Thomas Kuhn, Kevin (Jill) Kuhn; and brother-in-law, Doyle Goodman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest M. Johnson; brother, Thomas (Johnny) Kuhn; sister, Judith (Doyle) Goodman; son, Larry Johnson granddaughter, Jennifer J. Arenas; and a great-granddaughter, Haili Dawson.

She was primarily a homemaker, loved sewing and knitting, and was an avid reader. She sang karaoke and played the guitar, especially around the fire on family camping trips.

She served as a Waucedah Township Treasurer, a Dickinson County Library Board member, and belonged to the Dickinson County Genealogical Society, and Bond County Ill., and Fayette County Ill., Genealogical Societies.

She authored several family history books and family cookbooks.

She was a wonderful, kind, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was known as “Grandma Skipper” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and “Miss Kitty” to her karaoke friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

At her request, no funeral service was held. A private family Celebration of Life gathering will be held midyear 2020.
