Rosemary C. (Rosie) Mosca

IRON MOUNTAIN — Rosemary C. (Rosie) Mosca, 96, of Iron Mountain, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford.

Rosemary was born on Aug. 13, 1923, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of Joseph and Anne (Cesario) Baga. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1942, and Dundon’s Business College in 1943.

Rosemary headed to Chicago where she was a bookkeeper for the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, a company which accounted for men and materials moving through Chicago during World War II. On returning to Iron Mountain, Rosemary was employed at the Fontana School of Aeronautics, at which time she completed flight training and soloed in a Taylorcraft plane in 1946. It was there that she met Louis James (Bandit) Mosca, and they were married at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain on June 24, 1950.

She also worked at Ford Motor Company in the Engineering Department at the Kingsford plant until 1950, and the Veterans Affairs Hospital until 1953. After raising her family she returned to work with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., retiring after 13 years.

Louie and Rosie spent many happy times hunting and spending time with family and friends at their cabin at Bush Lake near Sagola, and winters in Melbourne, Florida.

Rosemary was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church, the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Women’s Club, the Dickinson County Pilots Association, the Dickinson County Bocce Association, the Menominee Range Historical Society, Chapter CX of the PEO Sisterhood, and Pine Grove Country Club.

She and Louie enjoyed playing mahjong, and Mom loved to play bridge with “The Kids,” and doing lunch and Packer parties with “The Girls Who Used To Golf.”

Rosemary is survived by three children, Rosann (Mark) Capra of Spread Eagle, Wis., Lawrence (Janeé) Mosca of Bush Lake, and Laura (Matthew) Songer of Marquette; five grandchildren, Andrea and Sarah Mosca, Jason (Lori) Songer, Marcus (Danielle) Songer and Linnea Songer; and two great-grandchildren, Bran and Lily Songer.

Along with her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; and her brother, Edward (Dorothy Jane) Baga of Melbourne.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. July 7, 2020, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. July 7 at St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
