Raymond Arthur Peterson

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP — Raymond Arthur Peterson, 94, of Mansfield Township, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at his farm, with his family by his side. Raymond was born April 29, 1925, to his parents, Arthur and Elsie Peterson. He attended the Mansfield schools and left school at the age of 17 to work on the farm and in the woods with his dad. A lifelong farmer, sportsman, and woodsman he also was employed by the Milwaukee Road Railroad for 33 years. He was the most honest, kind family man that always had a funny sense of humor with little sayings, such as: “She took me for better or worse and I got worse.” Everybody loved Raymond! Nobody can recall ever seeing him mad.

He married Veronica (Babe) Fruik on Sept. 2, 1950. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this year. In his years of life, he was a member of the Sagola Township Sportsmen Club, was a Mansfield Township Trustee, Mansfield Township Zoning Board member and loved taking care of his cattle.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elsie Peterson; a daughter, Rita LaBombarb; a grandson, Brandon Peterson; and a brother-in-law, Paul Larsen.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Veronica (Babe) Peterson; children, Robert and Randy (Tara) Peterson; a sister, Carol Larsen; a brother, Norman (Anita) Peterson; son-in-law, Jim Labombarb; grandchildren, Jill (Matt) Lowen, Brenda (Curt) Nysted, Stephen (Kristie) Peterson, Theresa Peterson (Andrew Fisk) Jacob and Gracie Peterson.

Raymond also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
