Morris Patrick “Mo” Conery

VULCAN — Morris Patrick “Mo” Conery IV, 55, of Vulcan, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, at his home.

Mo was born Sept. 1, 1964, in Norway, the son of Delores (Evanoff) Conery and the late Morris P. Conery. He graduated from Norway High School in 1982 and was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Ferris State University and the Police Academy at Northern Michigan University.

Mo enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 101st Airborne, earning many medals, decorations and citations throughout his eight and a half years of service. Mo was very patriotic and extremely proud to have served his country. 

He married Lisa Riley on Sept. 25, 2010, at Fumee Falls.

Mo worked at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain for several years and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4581 in Norway.

As an avid sports fan, he loved watching all sports, especially the Green Bay Packers.

Mo enjoyed watching birds and spending time with his dog, Mya.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his mother, Delores; his mother-in-law, Michelle Riley; a step-son, Riley Johnson; a brother, Sam (Lorraine) Conery; a sister, Wendy (David) Gustafson; an uncle, James (Peg) Conery; and several beloved nieces and nephews including special nephews, Matthew and Michael.

In addition to his father, Mo was preceded in death by a sister, Joddy Conery Baker.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan. Fr. Timothy Ekaitis will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.     

Graveside services will follow at Norway Township Cemetery. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
