Jean Ellen Magnuson

Jean was born in Norway, on March 18, 1946, a daughter of the late Myrtle Irene (Gustafson) and Francis Jacob Van Overmeiren.  She graduated from Norway High School, class of 1964 and received an X-ray certificate from Northern Michigan University in 1968.

Jean worked as an X-ray technician at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Ill., Marquette General Hospital and Bell Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where she was active in many church activities. 

Jean enjoyed gardening, picking blueberries, watching NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren competing in sporting events. 

Jean is  survived by a daughter, Heidi (Mark) Kugler and a son, Christopher (Tracy) Magnuson, both of Ishpeming; grandsons, Cody and Jacob Kugler; step-granddaughter, Brianna Aho, sisters-in-law, Christine Magnuson and Janet Van Overmeiren; brother-in-law, Arthur Mann; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Myrtle Van Overmeiren; husband, William Magnuson; brothers, Gary and James Van Overmeiren; sister-in-law, Kaarina Mann; and brother-in-law, Wayne Magnuson.

Due to the current restriction with COVID-19 a private service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody and Jacob Kugler, Scott Mann and Thomas Knapp.
