Marilyn Ida Simpson

KINGSFORD — Marilyn Simpson passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020.

She was born in 1936, to Helen and Clarence Broge and was raised in Melvindale, Mich. where she enjoyed her formative years and made many lifelong friends.

She was married in Germany to her high school sweetheart James (Jim) Simpson in 1956. They were married 64 years and raised three children on a small hobby farm in New Boston, Mich. There she was an active participant in her church, St. John’s Lutheran.

She was also a masters educated elementary teacher and taught for 28 years in the Airport School District. Upon retirement she and her husband enjoyed time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

They also enjoyed 30 years in their retirement home in Port St. Lucie, Fla., where they attended First United Methodist Church.

Marilyn was a fun loving and caring lady and will always be remembered for her sweet nature and infectious giggle.

Also by her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill Broge; her sister, Lillian Steelman; and her brother-in-law, Donald Simpson.

We would like to give many thanks to the staff of Evergreen Assisted Living and especially the Memory Care Unit for their loving care of Marilyn and her family. Your kindness during this difficult time was greatly appreciated.
