Mark Shemanski

NORWAY — Mark James Shemanski, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Norway, on Feb. 3, 2021.

He was much loved by many friends and greatly appreciated by choral musicians with whom he sang beautifully. The Trinity UMC choir remembers him with great fondness and the Dickinson County Community Chorus cherishes the memories of his wonderful voice.

He was born March 30, 1955, the youngest of seven children to Dr. Leonard S. and Frances M. (Kraus) Shemanski. Mark graduated from Wautoma High School and Indiana University with a music major.

He is survived by two brothers, F. John (Joanie) Shemanski and Ralph Shemanski, both of Wautoma, Wis.; two sisters, Sarah “Sally” (James) Baldry and Mary (Thomas) Olkiewicz, both of Omro, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Susan Shemanski of Berlin, Wis.; further survived by nephews, Justin, William and Wesley; his nieces, Gennine, Kirsten, Clara and Sydney.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Leonard and Frances Shemanski; his stepfather, Allen Barnes; two brothers, Stephen and Stanley; and a nephew, Matthew Olkiewicz.

To honor Mark’s wishes, cremation will take place and family services will take place in the spring of 2021 with inurnment in the Calvary Cemetery in Wautoma.
