William Frehse

LORETTO — William Howard Frehse, 76, of Loretto, fell asleep in the arms of his family on Monday, July 26, 2021.

He was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Norway, son of the late Howard William and Lorraine Ruth (Anderson) Frehse. Bill grew up on the family farm in Loretto, where he learned the meaning of hard work at a young age that he carried with him all his life. After he graduated from Vulcan High School with the Class of 1963, Bill began his trucking career and worked for various companies over many years. He retired from trucking in November of 2019.

On Jan. 3, 1970, Bill and Linda Ann Fike were united in marriage at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. They raised their family on the homestead and continued the legacy of farming. Bill loved nothing more than being on the seat of his tractor and taking care of the land so dear to his heart.

Bill loved hunting, fishing, visiting casinos, taking the “scenic route” on any ride he could, and spending time with his family.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Frehse; three children, Tracy (Chris Lassila) Frehse, Tammy (Doug) McDaniel, and Scott Frehse; grandchildren, Troy (Brittany) Pollard, Brittany (Mat) Sorensen, Amanda (Brock) Huehns, Harley Sherk, and Jeffrey Frehse; great-grandson, Lucas Pollard; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lorraine Frehse; brother, Mike Frehse; sister, Patricia Rossi; and an infant brother.

Bill’s life will be honored with a funeral service on Friday, July 30 at noon at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain. He will be laid to rest in Norway Township Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Bill’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the care teams at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Bellin Health and Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain.

Huehns Funeral Home of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. has been entrusted with caring for the Frehse family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Bill may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
