Christopher Kramer

WACO, Texas — Christopher “Chris” Kramer, son, brother, friend passed away at Providence Hospice Facility in Waco, Texas on Aug. 21, 2021, after a battle with lung cancer.

Chris was born Jan. 19, 1963, in Iron Mountain to Ralph and Doris Kramer and attended school in Iron Mountain. He served in the U.S. Army from 1980 to 1983 and was honorably discharged and relocated to Texas.

Chris put his many talents to work and built up a home maintenance business. He was never one to turn away someone in need and gave of his time and talents. Many of his customers became his friends — because that was who Chris was. There was never a stray animal in his neighborhood — because Chris either took it in or made sure it was cared for.

He was an avid gardener and was always proud of his gardens and what they produced. He carried his Yooper roots with him to Texas and took every opportunity to hunt and fish. He was never happier than when he was out on the water with a fishing pole in his hand — most especially when he came home to fish with Brian, his brother and friend.

Chris will be deeply missed and will always be remembered for his big smile, generous ways and his love of family and animals. Godspeed Chris — Dad will be waiting for you.

Chris is survived by his significant other, Cathy Carson of Mexia, Texas and his mother, Doris Kramer of Kingsford. He is further survived by sisters, Margaret (Bob) Minerick of Sagola and Carol (Mark) Schultz of Spread Eagle, Wis.; brothers, David (Georgia) Kramer of Vancouver, Wash., Brian (Tracie) Kramer of Hortonville, Wis. and Ken (Lynn) Kramer of Iron Mountain and his U.P. buddy, Jerald Winton of Republic. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and his much-loved fur buddies. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Kramer; and grandparents, Ralph and Margaret Kramer and Fred and Edith Rau.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In Chris’s memory, any memorials should be made to Almost Home Animal Shelter, 5060 Lincoln Ave, Quinnesec, Ml. 49876.
