Bruce C. Strutz

MERRIMAN — Bruce C. Strutz, 71, of Merriman, passed away on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Dickinson County Healthcare System after a short battle with cancer.

Bruce was born Oct. 16, 1950, in Iron Mountain, son of the late John and Elsie (Laugerfeldt) Strutz. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1968 and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Bruce married Cynthia Mott on Aug. 23, 1975, at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. He was employed at Grede Foundry for over 40 years.

Bruce enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid Michigan sports fan and particularly liked the Lions and Tigers.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cynthia; their five children, Melissa Strutz of Kingsford, Nathan (Betsyrose) Strutz of Maryland, Matthew (Jaime Fornetti) Strutz of Utah, Nicole (Brian) Bonner of Iron Mountain, and Isabella Strutz at home; two grandchildren, Anthony Kephas and Breanna Strutz; three brothers, Gary, James, and Terry; three sisters, Judith Tappy, Karyn (Jack) Carlson, and Charlene (Dennis) Liebergen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Nancy) Mott, JoAnn (Gary) Boucher, Diane (Gerald) Anderson, Linda (Tom) Winer, Jon (Donna) Mott, and Jeffrey Mott; brother-in-law, Todd (Marilyn) Anderson; aunts, Dorothy Perkins and Ruth (Paul) Larson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie Strutz; his father and mother-in law, Donald and Helen Mott; a brother, John Strutz; a brother-in-law, Laurence Tappy; and sister-in-law, Deborah Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 9 until 11 a.m. at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Chad Harrison will officiate.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dickinson County Hospital for taking such good care of Bruce over the past few weeks.
