KINGSFORD — Julie Ann Heckman, 57, of Kingsford, died Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

She was born Sept. 6, 1964, in Escanaba, daughter of the late James and Eileen (Flath ) Daigneault. Julie graduated from Escanaba High School in 1982 and had earned her beautician degree prior to graduating.

She married Rick Heckman on July 20, 1996. at American Martyrs church. Julie and Rick have been residents of Kingsford for the past 25 years. Julie owned and operated Salon Solutions in Kingsford.

Julie loved crafts and trips to the casino with her sisters. She was a member of the American Martyrs Church. She loved motorcycling, fishing, and spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Heckman; three children, Nicole Heckman of Laurel, Miss., and her daughter, Gabbi; Melissa (Sean) Palomaki of Kingsford, and their sons, Ryker and Jayce; Kristel (Shane) Thrash of West, Miss. and their children, Kristian, Kaden, Kole, and Khloe; five siblings, Cindy Deiter (Dennis Gustafson) of Hardwood, Randy (Sue) Daigneault of Rapid River, Debbie (Dan) White of North Attleborough, Mass., and Connie (Kevin) Ray of Northbrookfield, Mass., and Pam (Scott) Beauchamp of Niagara, Wis.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Martyrs church in her memory.
