Howard Siegler

NORWAY — Howard L. Siegler, formerly from Norway, died on May 11, 2022, at Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas.

He had just celebrated his 91st birthday on May 4 which would also have been his 65th wedding anniversary with his late wife, Cecilia Solberg Siegler, who preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 2019.

Howard was born in Kingsford on May 4, 1931, the eldest child of the late Louis and Laura (Morse) Siegler.

Howard was a graduate of Felch High School in 1948 and Milwaukee Institute of Technology in 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Howard spent most of his professional career working first for the railroad, and then for IBM.

He enjoyed many hobbies, but his greatest joy was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid wood carver, enjoyed decade of daily walks with his friends, played a good game of cribbage and spent time playing his guitar. While a man of few words, he, and his brother, Delbert, performed yearly at the Aura Jamboree.

Howard volunteered with his wife at the Jake Menghini Historical Museum. They enjoyed sports, cheering on the Knights, Packers, Tigers, and Wolverines.

He is survived by his daughter Teri Jarley of Henderson, Nev.; son, Jay (Cathie) Siegler of Canton, Mich.; grandchildren, Amanda (Derek) Gray of Louisville, Ky., Margaret (Ryan Carlton) Jarley of San Francisco, Tyler Jarley of Henderson, Ryan Siegler of Canton, and Jessica Siegler of Chicago; great-grandsons, Henry and Thomas Gray of Louisville; brother, Delbert (Shirley) Siegler of Felch; sister, Nancy (Stewart) Sundholm of Felch; and sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Siegler of Iron Mountain and Bernice Siegler of Norway.

Howard was preceded in death by his brothers, Dale and Donald Siegler.

A memorial service will be held in Norway at a future date.
