Douglas Raymond Nelson Jr.

Doug was born on Aug. 26, 1982, in Detroit, the son of Douglas R. Sr. and Loreen (Zegarski) Nelson. He attended Iron Mountain High School and later graduated from Orange County High School in Florida. On Sept. 25, 2004, Doug was married to the former Skylynn Pete at Maranatha Assembly of God. Together they shared almost 19 years and were blessed with three amazing children. As a young man living in Florida, Doug discovered a talent for body work and painting. He later received his CDL and ran his own trucking business for a while. Most recently, Doug enjoyed working as a lowboy hauler for Bacco Construction.

Doug had an undying love for God and a devotion to faith and prayer that served as an example to all around him. He enjoyed working in the hay fields at home. More than anything else, Doug loved and lived for his family.

Doug will be deeply missed by his wife, Sky; three children, Zaiden, Ava and Isaac Nelson; his parents; two siblings, Donny (Bobbie Jo) and Cindy Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Rose Nelson, and Don Zegarski; and his great-grandparents, Marion and Chick Nelson.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5:45 p.m. at Maranatha Assembly of God, 920 S. Carpenter Ave., on Thursday, July 20, with Rev. David Wilton officiating the memorial service at 6 p.m.
