KINGSFORD — David J. McKee, 74, of Kingsford, passed away on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

Dave was born Feb. 5, 1949 in Wyandotte, Mich., son of the late James and Josephine (Ondriska) McKee. He graduated from Riverview High School in 1967 and went on to earn a degree in marketing management from NMU.

Dave married Patricia Larson on Aug. 24, 1974, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He was a dedicated salesman for over 35 years with Town & Country Ford and a faithful member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford.

Dave was involved in the Kingsford High School Athletic Booster Club for several years and was awarded “Booster of the Year” in 2001. He loved watching the Flivvers, especially when his boys played football.

Dave was an avid University of Michigan fan who often exchanged jabs with his sister, Pam, who is an avid Michigan State fan. He enjoyed bowling in league for many years as well as golfing, swimming and camping.

Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patti; two sons, Matthew McKee of Kingsford and Marc McKee of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Sharon (Neal) McMillian of Connecticut and Pamela McKee of Wyandotte; a brother-in-law, Dan Larson of Iron Mountain; a special cousin, Tim Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dave was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Mary & Archie Larson.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 22 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northwoods Animal Shelter or the Parkinson’s Foundation in Dave’s memory.
