Roger G. Rochon

KINGSFORD — Roger G. Rochon, 82, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford.

Roger was born Jan. 11, 1941, in St. Pierre, Manitoba, Canada, the son of Rosario and Mathilda (Houde) Rochon.

He attended St. Pierre-Jolys High School and then enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served for eigh years. After his discharge from the Air Force, Roger had various jobs and attended Red River College and received a diploma in electrical technology.

Work opportunities brought Roger to the United States and he became a U.S. citizen on June 19, 1975. Roger worked for Lakeshore Inc. for many years before taking a position with Valmet Corporation where he finished out his career.

Roger married Lois (Swanson) Bosley on June 23, 1978, at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club and St. Mary Queen of Peace Church. Roger enjoyed playing cards, especially smear, and he was an excellent cook. He loved to entertain and was an exceptional host to friends and family alike. Roger was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; five children, Ann (Roy) Brown, Mark (Jean) Bosley, Lynn (David) Karban, Mary Bosley and John Bosley; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Bosley; three brothers, Norman (Shirley) Rochon, Marcel (Joan) Rochon, and Gerald (Marie-Ange) Rochon; two sisters, Anita (Maurice) Cormier and Simone (Gilles) Neveux; two brothers-in-law, James Swanson and Arthur Swanson, three sisters-in- law, Louise Rochon, Janet Swanson, and Darlene Swanson; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Rosario and Mathilda Rochon; two brothers, Claude Rochon and Maurice Rochon; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rochon, Jean Rochon, and Vera Swanson; one brother-in-law, Richard Swanson; and two grandchildren, Brandon Bosley and Taylor Bosley.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
