NORWAY — Loren “Fuzzy” Anderson, 70, of Norway, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at his home, in Norway.
He was born Jan. 30, 1953, in Banat, son of the late Peter “Chum” and Shirley (DeLaurellel) Thoune and Loren Anderson.
Fuzzy played baseball and high school football, also working at Strohl’s farm. He graduated from Stephenson High School in 1971.
Following graduation, he worked in Chicago for an architecture firm. Leaving Chicago, he moved to Colorado working in drywall. He spent some time in California before moving back to Stephenson. He then moved to Norway, working for Jerry Truitt’s, painting crew “the farm boys!” He started working in construction, working at Dickinson Homes, Sundance Builders, and Carey Contracting. Fuzzy “pink pants” Anderson enjoyed playing softball for many years. He and his wife always had a big vegetable garden. He was an avid deer hunter, not always successful but always enjoying camp life, playing cribbage and having an old fashioned.
He was a Little League baseball umpire for several years and coached his son’s Moose baseball team and Pop Warner football team.
Over the years he volunteered his construction abilities by helping build the dugouts at the baseball fields at Marion Park, lending a hand with Habitat for Humanity and projects at St. Mary church. For several years Fuzzy was the Lamplighter at the annual Christmas parade in Norway, walking on stilts to light the Christmas lights on Main Street to start the parade.
Part of his daily routine was to go to the Norway Quick Stop, (Ed’s Market) in the morning to have coffee with the crew.
He was a loving grandfather “Pa Pa Fuzz” to his five grandsons. He loved going to all of their sporting events, including baseball, basketball and football. He was so proud of them.
