NIAGARA, Wis. — Joan (Knaus) Roehrig, 73, of Niagara, Wis., passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson after a long battle with an autoimmune disease.

Joan was born in Fond du Lac, Wis., the daughter of Elroy and Marjorie (Schmid) Knaus.

She was a 1969 graduate of New Holstein High School. She received a bachelor of nursing degree from Marion College as well as obtaining a master of nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Throughout her working years she held various roles in the field of nursing, finishing her career as an administrator at Maryhill Manor located in Niagara.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela (Mark) Moreau; her brother, Peter (Sandy) Knaus; and sister-in-law/travel partner, Cindy Knaus; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elroy and Marjorie Knaus; brother, Robert Knaus; sister, Catherine Tappendorf; and brother, Brian Knaus.

The immediate family will hold a Celebration of Life event at a later date. Per Joan’s wishes in lieu of gifts, donations may be made to the Almost Home Animal Shelter, 5060 Lincoln St., Quinnesec, MI 49876.
