AURORA, Wis. — It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ronald Duane Schneider, beloved husband (Love of My Life, Soul Mate and Best Friend), Father and Grandfather who went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, April 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer.
Ron was born on Aug. 20, 1937, to Theodore (Ted) and Madaline (Neuens) Schneider of Aurora, Wis. Ron was baptized and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Church and talked about when he was young, riding his bike down the hill to the church to be the Altar Boy.
Ron graduated from Kingsford High School and went to work for the family business, Schneider Iron and Metal. Ron became the president and CEO of the business upon his Dad’s passing and became partners with his brother, Don, for over 70 years, expanding the family business to four locations. The “Business Man” that Ron was, he established and co-owned additional business endeavors with his brother and wife, Patti.
Ron married Patti Rice on April 17, 1993, and they built a life together of love, laughter, and adventure with family and friends by their side.
Ron was devoted to his family and enjoyed traveling, bowling, feeding his grandson, Colin’s, dogs (Chips and Nico) lunch and bananas for the ducks, fishing on his boat in Door County, and especially the yearly fishing trip with his brothers-in-law from the bowling team.
He sponsored the Babe Ruth and Little League teams in Aurora, for many years and when his two boys were playing on different teams he made sure to park between the two fields in Aurora, so he could watch both games at the same time. Also, when his granddaughter, Carly’s, soccer team needed new uniforms, he was more than happy to make that happen.
Ron is survived by his wife, Patti; his son, Aaron (Miranda) Schneider of Aurora; three grandchildren, Carly (Kyle Ihrke) Schneider, Colin Schneider and Kandace Schneider; daughter-in-law, Desiree Windell; brother-in-law, Bill (Sheree) Rice; sisters-in-law, Vicki (Ford) Waterman, Debbie (Bill) Johnson, Lori (Jim) Machus, Jodi (Jeff Campbell) LaVarnway, Tami (Jon) Olson, and Jackie (Steve) Schaut; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin; infant brother, Alfred; brother, Don; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Shirley Rice; brother-in-law, David LaVarnway; and nephew, Paul Waterman.
A private Funeral Mass was held with Fr. Felix Abano Jr. offering the Mass of Christian Burial at the Sacred Heart Church in Aurora. Interment will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
Pallbearers were Aaron Schneider, Colin Schneider, Eric Schneider, Kyle Ihrke, Brad Machus and Bill Johnson.
The family would like to thank the ICU Staff at Marshfield Medical Center -Dickinson for the excellent and compassionate care that they provided to Ron and his family.
