Jerry S. Marinelli

IRON MOUNTAIN – Jerry S. Marinelli, 91, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain.

He was born on April 11, 1934, in Iron Mountain, to the late Peter and Cecelia (Spigarelli) Marinelli. Jerry was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Kingsford High School, class of 1952. Following his graduation, he attended Michigan Tech and NMU, earning his master’s degree in education.

Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Special Forces during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the 107th Engineer Battalion National Guard in Kingsford, retiring as an E-7 Mess SGT, and a current member of the American Legion. Jerry was also a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Jerry joined Laborers Union 1329 in Iron Mountain, where he was elected vice president of the executive board for most of his membership and was a Gold Card holder.

He finished his working career at Walmart, retiring at the age of 87.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tina; and two daughters, Nikki Marinelli of Iron Mountain and Bonnie (Tom) Hacker of Milwaukee, and her two children, Cassidy and Jack Carpenter.

Jerry also leaves many extended family members and close friends.

A private funeral will be held per Jerry’s request.
