Nice gesture to veterans’ families

Bouquets & Barbs

Bouquet

From Jeanette DeNell-Brazeau, Iron Mountain:

My deceased husband, John, was the sergeant-at-arms for The Military Order of the Purple Heart for the state of Michigan. He was very proud of this. Thank you to the MOPH and the other veterans’ organizations for remembering the veterans’ families at Christmas time. What a wonderful gesture.

Florence HS students got ‘trip of a lifetime’ to inauguration

Bouquet

From Pam Smith, social studies teacher, Florence High School, Florence, Wis.:

Recently, my Florence High School students experienced the trip of a lifetime as they journeyed to the inauguration in Washington, DC. I would like to thank everyone who made that possible. Thank you to the Florence County School Board and administration of Florence High School for allowing me to pursue this opportunity and providing me with the support needed to make it a reality. Thank you to my colleagues and staff at school for arranging the end of the semester to best accommodate my students who would miss three days of school. Thank you to the parents and guardians who entrusted me with their children, and adults Connie Davis and Melissa Uren for accompanying me. Thank you to Emma and Ryan Doda for help in fundraising: Classic Auto Collision of Kingsford sponsored our car wash in June and XCell Graphics donated Bobcat stickers for us to sell. Fundraising efforts were also supplemented by Econo Foods, who allowed us to bag groceries for tips; and funds were also raised by selling Dina Mia products and Seroogy’s chocolates. I thank everyone who supported those efforts. I would like to acknowledge my tour company, EF Explore America. Finally, I would like to thank my 17 students who behaved in an exemplary manner and made me extremely proud throughout the entire trip.
