Calumet resident says thanks for cleanup help

Bouquets & Barbs

Bouquet

From Rodd Haltunen, Calumet:

We want to thank the kind group of kids — hockey players, figure skaters, etc. — and parents who came up from Iron Mountain and Kingsford to our communities of Lake Linden, Hubbell and Tamarack City on Sunday to help out with the flood cleanup. They did an amazing job and were tireless in their efforts, from shoveling mud and rock out of basements, being part of the bucket brigades, bringing wheelbarrow loads of debris to the roadside and more. Thank you!

Support made historical society event a success

Bouquet

From Michaelene Koelsch, a member of the Florence County Historical Society:

A huge thank you to all of our quilters and handy work friends whom shared their work Saturday for the Florence County Historical Society Quilt Show and Strawberry Social. To everyone whom came out to see the crafters, classic cars from Escanaba and had strawberry shortcake. We had beautiful weather and a wonderful time socializing. Also, thank you for supporting us by purchasing raffle tickets.

Liked Art for All show, not the parking situation

Bouquet and Barb

From Agatha Cavaiani, Kingsford:

One of the best Art for All shows, even the weather cooperated. However, a number of people who are handicapped — with canes, walkers and wheelchairs –did not stop to enjoy because of parking. Why all the boulders, they asked? Are they not taking up parking spaces? What to do? Hoping there are answers for next year’s Art for All show and other activities held at City Park.
