County should keep Crystal Lake senior center

From Agatha Cavaiani, Kingsford:
The Crystal Lake Senior Center up for sale? No reason the county cannot support a senior center. In its 40-year history, the only major repair is the sewer backup project. The center should be one of the county’s top priorities, not just for the present but for generations yet to come.
The people’s millage money helps to maintain the center, promote activities and a place to gather. Seniors have contributed a lot of time, energy and yes, money, too, for the community, and some are still involved.
Veterans are seniors, too, and deserve the very best. Sometimes seniors become depressed, anxious, suffer from the loss of a loved one or pet, and the center becomes a home away from home for them. The center sometimes helps to keep seniors out of nursing homes and assisted living housing.
No way should the center become privatized. Seniors, let your voices be heard. A petition can also be started.
P.S. Negaunee is building a new senior center.
