Support local, UP nonprofits on GivingTuesday

From Ontonagon to St. Ignace and everywhere in between, nonprofit organizations are hoping to kick off the season of giving on a strong note.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world.

GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back not just Tuesday but throughout the year.

According to the Marquette-based organization Grow & Lead: Community and Youth Development, more than 40 organizations have registered initiatives as part of the #give906 Upper Peninsula Community Campaign. Full descriptions of each organization’s project and a link to donate or get involved can be viewed at give906.org, GLCYD advised.

Participating organizations in Dickinson and Iron counties include Dickinson-Iron County Communities that Care, Great Lakes Recovery Centers and the Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency, or DICSA.

Additional organizations are being added to the #give906 website as their information is received, GLCYD stated.

Donors and volunteers are encouraged to use #give906 to share how they gave locally.
