Praise for the Kingsford Memorial Day program

Bouquets and Barbs

Bouquet: Thank you to the Kingsford Carpenter-Clash American Legion Post 363 members, the Kingsford High School Band students and directors, to the members of Scout Pack 510, to all those patriotic citizens who attended the Memorial Day ceremonies and stood with hands over hearts for “The Star-Spangled Banner” and to the great speakers.

The Breitung Township Middle School teachers who cooperated to provide a terrific short essay by eighth grader Emma Seeger and the concise patriotic presentation by Kasey Lessard from the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain that reminded us all of the debt we owe to those who died saving our country.

A highlight of the program for me was the playing of taps for those veterans living and present with the eerie echo as though from those veterans gone before who were being honored.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
