MILWAUKEE — After earning his first collegiate career win in Texas, Marquette freshman Hunter Eichhorn of Carney was named Big East Male Golfer of the Week by the conference office.

Eichhorn, a four-time UP high school champion, posted a 9-under-par 204 (67-72-65) at the Price’s Give’ ‘Em Five Invitational hosted by UTEP. He entered the final round tied for sixth, before shooting a field-best 6-under-par on Sunday.

Marquette finished in second place as a team at 3-under-par (281-288-280, 849).

In five starts this fall, Eichhorn has four sub-70 rounds and nine total under par. He ranks seventh in the nation in birdies made with 60, and his 70.93 average (-0.47 vs. par) is second in the Big East behind teammate Austin Kendziorski.
