Broncos throw Knights

Girls Basketball

NORWAY — Bark River-Harris, behind Sierra Debelak’s 20 points, downed Norway 68-28 in Skyline Central Conference girls basketball Monday.

The Knights (5-12, 3-5) trailed 22-10 after the first quarter. Norway Coach Joe Tinti cited turnovers and missed lay-ups for the early struggles.

“That first quarter we should have had the lead,” Tinti said. “We were throwing it right to the other team.

“I think we were intimidated and played scared. We just couldn’t take care of the ball.”

Haley Clifford led Norway with eight points and Mikayla Faull added six.

“They’re good and athletic, and a terrible match-up for us,” Tinti said. “But we got everyone some minutes. This was a learning game.”

The Broncos (14-3) had 21 turnovers in the game. Debelak hit four three-point field goals.

Norway hosts top-ranked Munising tonight.

BRH won the junior varsity game.
