Ex-Florence star Coach of the Year
CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Former Florence High School star Kari (Flunker) Hoffman is the 2017-18 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
Hoffman achieved the recognition in voting by the conference coaches.
Hoffman, in her second year at Cedarville, guided the Lady Jackets to records of 24-6 overall and 18-4 G-MAC while capturing the league’s regular season title. Her squad was ranked as high as No. 22 in the WBCA Division II national poll.
Hoffman became Cedarville University’s head women’s basketball coach in time for the 2016-17 season. She was promoted after serving as an assistant coach with the Lady Jackets from 2010-16.
Hoffman was a two-time American Mideast Conference Player of the Year during her Cedarville playing career from 2001-05.
Hillsdale eliminated top-seeded Cedarville 82-64 in this month’s G-MAC tournament.
