Norway’s VanHolla named Skyline Conference Player of the Year

NORWAY — Norway’s Ada VanHolla, who hit over .500 this season, has been named the Skyline Conference Softball Player of the Year.

The junior batted .522 with eight home runs and 45 RBIs. She posted a .928 fielding average at third base.

“Ada puts in a lot of time,” said Norway coach Bob Bal. “She works hard at perfecting her game.”

VanHolla was joined on the first team by teammates Karli Stanchina, Allie Sheski and Mariah Gyselinck, Ada VanHolla, Haley Clifford and Kayte Casanova.

Bark River-Harris’ Eden Oswald along with Sheski and Gyselinck are pitchers.

Norway’s Jenna Johnson and Katlyn Hosking made the second team.

Bark River-Harris was the conference champion.

All-Skyline Conference:

Pitchers — Eden Oswald, Bark River-Harris; Allie Sheski and Mariah Gyselinck, Norway.

Outfield — Cheridan Peterson, Bark River-Harris; Karli Stanchina, Norway; Tori Tyner, Superior Central; Maddee Johns, Munising

Infield — Tatiana LaFave and Cierra Ouradnik, Bark River-Harris; Ada VanHolla, Haley Clifford and Kayte Casanova, Norway; Kennedy Tharp, Stephenson; Jada Johnson, Superior Central; Marissa Ackerman, Taletha Witty and Keira Stamfly, Munising.
