Flivver JVs dump Wausau East

KINGSFORD — The Kingsford’s JV football team played Wausau East on Friday before the varsity game. Head coach Kevin Murdock led his Flivvers to a 20-7 win.

Assistant coach John VanDusen said, “Our defense really stepped up and played a great game, giving our offense great field position early in the game leading to two first-quarter touchdowns — a four-yard rush by Toby Wilcox and a 54-yard reception by Brody Kopp.”

VanDusen noted the offensive line consisting of Marcus Doucette, Alaster Johnson, Trestan Larson, Levi Fiorucci, Lucca Rizzo, Cai St. Louis, and Matthew Wilson blocked tough up front, allowing the Flivver running backs to average more than five yards per carry.

“Our special teams play kept the Lumberjacks on their heels and forcing them to play on their own half of the field for most of the game,” Van Dusen said.

Nathan Bousley added a fourth-quarter touchdown reception.

Aidan Richtig, Regan Johnson, and Jacen Davis were all able to contribute offensively. Michael Meneguzzo threw for more 100 yards and had two touchdown passes. Wilcox led the rushing attack with more than 100 yards. Defensively, Larson and Regan Johnson both caused Wausau East fumbles.

Kingsford JVs, now 3-2 (2-0 in the GNC) are off until traveling to Amherst, Wis., on Monday. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.
