MADISON, Wis. — Norway native Dan Lindstrom was named Wisconsin boys swimming and diving Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

“It is a great honor to receive such recognition by the WIAA and NFHS after so many years in and around the sport,” said Lindstrom, who coaches at Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart. “But it is an even greater honor to coach and represent a great group of young men at Edgewood High School. The team continues to show the coaching staff every day that they are willing to push themselves to reach their goals.”

Lindstrom added, “I would not be receiving such a great honor if it was not for their hard work and dedication to the sport. Thank you to the team and to the Edgewood community for your support.”

Lindstrom was the lone swim team member that swam for Norway for two years before the Kingsford co-op team formed, prior to Lindstrom’s senior season. He went on to have a very good college career for UW-Green Bay, earning two varsity letters as a swimmer.

The 2003 Norway graduate earned a bachelor’s degree from UW-Green Bay in 2007. In 2009, Lindstrom graduated from Ohio State University with a masters degree in regional and urban planning.

Before taking over as head coach at Edgewood, Lindstrom was the head coach at DePere High School, leading the girls team. Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart, is a private high school in Madison.
