Florence spikers regroup; roll past Goodman-Pembine, 3-1

PEMBINE, Wis — Florence defeated Northern Lakes Conference foe Goodman/Pembine 3-1(25-16, 20-25, 25-11, 25-15) Tuesday night in girls volleyball action.

“We came out hot and carrying over our tough play from Monday night,” said Florence coach Teresa Chrisman. “We lost momentum in the second set and quit attacking. Once we started hitting again it came back together for us.”

The Ladycats’ serving has improved each match. noted Chrisman. Sidney Tomczak, Morgan Tomczak, Tylie Fyvie and Lacey Enders all had 100% serving in the match.

“The girls played hard tonight,” said G-P coach Nicole Milan. “We often found ourselves out of position and it hurt us.”

Katelyn Nelson had 10 kills, five blocks and four aces for the Lady Patriots. Kassy Mazur had six assists two kills and three blocks.

“I like how each night I am getting different girls stepping up their back row play, tonight it was Enders,” Chrisman added.

Morgan Tomczak notched nine kills and her sister Sidney had eight.

Monday evening versus Three Lakes the Florence JVs lost 2-1. Lucy Ruebens, Vicky Peterson and Desi Jespersen all had 100% serving. There was no JV contest Tuesday night.

G-P returns to action Thursday night at Three Lakes; Florence returns home to host Laona-Wabeno on Monday, both opponents being NLC foes.
