LAKE CITY — Iron Mountain defeated McBain 53-50 on Tuesday to advance to the MHSAA boys basketball Division 3 state semifinals.

The Mountaineers (18-0) will face Schoolcraft (19-1) at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time Thursday at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. Schoolcraft advanced with a 59-47 win over Grand Rapids Covenant Christian.

The Mountaineers built a lead in the second half against McBain and fought off a late rally to preserve the win. A free throw by senior Foster Wonders gave Iron Mountain a five-point advantage with 11 seconds remaining before McBain managed to score at the buzzer.
