IRON MOUNTAIN — Ironwood fell to host Iron Mountain 7-1 in girls tennis Wednesday as the Mountaineers swept the singles matches.

With the Mountaineers competing in the Mid-Peninsula Conference meet today at Westwood, coach Marcus Celello said it was encouraging to see the team play well.

“I’m proud of the way Hailey Greenleaf and Mia Vedin played (at No. 4 doubles),” he said. “After dropping their second set and falling behind in the third, they showed a lot of grit by continuing to fight until the final point.”

The duo secured a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win.

“After a slow start to the year by our standards, our girls are playing well just in time for the postseason,” Celello added.

Iron Mountain’s Natalia Brown was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles Wednesday.
