Kingsford boys grab top track spot at KHS Quad

KINGSFORD — The Kingsford Flivvers boys track team won 10 events en route to a victory in the Kingsford Quadrangular on Tuesday.

The Flivvers amassed 135.5 points to finish in front of Houghton with 96.5, West Iron County with 6 and Hannahville Nah Tah Wahsh with 6.

Noah Johnson and Michael Floriano led the Flivvers individuals with two victories each. Johnson captured the discus and the shot put, while Floriano topped the field in the 100 and 200.

Other individual champions for Kingsford included Blake Tomasoski in the 3,200, Jack Olson in the high jump and Connor Quick in the long jump.

The Flivvers also were victorious in the 400 relay, the 800 relay and the 3,200 relays (no individual names were reported).

West Iron County’s Tanner Nordstrom recorded all of his team’s points with third-place finishes in both the discus and the shot put.

In the girls competition, Houghton posted nine event victories and came away with the team trophy with 119.5 points. The Flivvers took runner-up honors with 78.5 and West Iron County placed third with 63.5.

The Kingsford girls won three events. Freshman Mylee Kreider captured the long jump, while the Flivvers won the 400 and 800 relays (no names were reported).

The top individual performer in the girls event was West Iron senior Danica Shamion, who won the 100, the 200, the 400 and the high jump.

The Wykons also got a victory from senior Seanna Stine in the 100 hurdles.
