Mountaineers hold Senior Athletic Awards night

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain senior student-athletes were honored at the annual Senior Athletic Awards Night on Sunday, in Mountaineer Gym.
Emily Copley and Alex Wilson were honored with the distinguished Pat Izzo Memorial award.
The Pat Izzo Memorial award is awarded to those who display sportsmanship, school spirit, character, desire, and leadership. It honors students who, although maybe not the star athlete, are always there with a smile, rooting on their team, motivating others and leading with integrity. The Award is in memory of the late Pat Izzo, a former Mountaineer.
Copley and Wilson’s names have been added to the list of awardees on the Pat Izzo Memorial award plaque that hangs in the Izzo-Mariucci Building.
Shayna Hruska and Matthew Colavecchi were presented with the prestigious Izzo-Mariucci Scholarship award. The Izzo-Mariucci Scholarship award is a $5,000 scholarship awarded to Iron Mountain senior student athletes who aspire to be in a lettered sport (or club sport) at the college or university level, who demonstrate qualities of good sportsmanship and high moral character, and have participated in a multiple high school sports.
Hruska and Colavecchi’s names have been added to the list of awardees on the Izzo-Mariucci trophy that is displayed in the Izzo-Mariucci Building.
All athletes were presented with a Senior Athlete Plaque, thanks to the Iron Mountain Athletic Booster Club. Each athlete honored during the ceremony is listed below.

MVP Lineman of the Year — Fulton Stroud
MVP Back of the Year — Luke Wolfe
Football MVP — Luke Wolfe

Bowling MVP — Kyle Lautzenheiser
Wrestling MVP — Fulton Stroud
Boys Basketball MVP — Matthew Colavecchi
Girls Basketball MVP — Emily Copley
Boys Track MVP — Luke Wolfe and Matthew Colavecchi
Girls Soccer MVP — Emily Copley
Softball MVP — Lindsey Sorensen and McKinlee Peterson
Boys Tennis MVP — Reece Kangas
