Ladycats roll at Northland Pines
EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — The Florence varsity volleyball team was back in action on Tuesday as it traveled to Eagle River, Wis. for the Northland Pines quad.
The Ladycats ended the day 2-1 with wins over Northland Pines (2-1; 17-25, 25-8, 15-8) and Three Lakes (2-0; 25-15, 25-13). Florence’s lone loss was against Phillips (0-2, 23-25, 23-25).
“It was good competition and we can learn and grow from what we saw,” Ladycats head coach Teresa Chrisman said. “We are still trying to find our groove on what lineup is going to produce the best passes and sets to our hitters. I am seeing improvement every day from the beginning of our season and that is all you can hope for.
“The girls are starting to gel and have been thrown many different lineups due to injury and illness already to start the season, and have adapted,” coach Chrisman added.
Senior Kamdan Johnson ended the day with 28 kills. She also tallied an assist, eight aces, 25 digs and two solo blocks. Florence also received contributions from Kelsi Chrisman (6 kills, 31 assists, 2 aces, 9 digs), Sammie Demuri (4 kills, 28 assists, 5 aces, 11 digs, 1 solo block), Miley VanDenHeuvel (10 kills, 2 assists, 3 aces, 5 digs), Audrey Franz (13 kills, 2 assists, 3 aces, 18 digs), Naomi Millan (6 kills, 1 assist, 3 aces, 4 digs) and Abby Novak (3 digs).
Florence hosts Crandon today at 7 p.m.
