Lady Trojans lock up SCC crown
HARRIS — Despite entering its contest against Bark River-Harris missing two ailing seniors, Ella Gasperich and Ellie Ayers, the Forest Park varsity volleyball team took care of business against the Broncos, picking up a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-10) victory in Skyline Central Conference action on Monday.
“I was a bit anxious going into the game since we were missing two of our seniors, Ella Gasperich and Ellie Ayers, due to the flu. However, I was confident in our team’s depth. Lily Curnow, who typically plays libero, stepped up and performed fantastically. Her athleticism and versatility as a player is amazing,” FP head coach Bobbie Jo Anderson said. “I’m proud of our team for maintaining our momentum despite the absences. We are the conference champions and are excited to kick off our postseason journey”
With the win, the Lady Trojans secured the SCC title after posting a 10-0 conference record in 2024.
Freshman Harper Anderson led the way for Forest Park with 11 kills.
The Lady Trojans also received contributions from Ava Fischer (7 kills, 15 digs, 4 aces), Evie Anderson (2 kills, 1 block, 15 digs, 1 ace), Lily Curnow (1 kill, 4 digs), Tessa Bartoszek (5 kills, 1 assist, 4 digs), Elsie Williams (8 kills, 16 assists, 10 digs, 2 aces), Dalaney Wagner (2 digs) and Vienna Price (13 assists, 8 digs, 1 ace).
Forest Park has a first-round bye in the playoffs and is off until Nov. 6 when it opens District 99 action at home against the winner of Tuesday’s contest between Norway and Stephenson.
The Lady Trojans have beaten both teams this season. They have two wins over the Knights and three over the Eagles.
