Norway sweeps softball twin bill
BARK RIVER — Norway won a softball doubleheader Friday at Bark River, taking the first game 14-0 and the second game 8-1.
Kara Stanchina worked the mound in the five-inning opener. She struck out 13, walked two and surrendered just one Broncos hit.
Stanchina contributed two of the Knights’ 13 hits. Emily Temrowski and Ashley Carlson had two singles apiece and Myah Gilroy tripled.
Adding to the Norway hit parade were Jordyn Moln, Aidan Fisher, Tessa Castelaz, Emma Dube, Emilee Marier and Lilly Tomlanovich.
Moln completed four innings in the picher’s circle in the second game while Stanchina threw the final two frames.
Moln allowed three hits and whiffed five. Stanchina struck out six and walked two.
Stanchina stroked a triple and a single while Castelaz, Gilroy and Brooklyn Schettler all doubled. Kaylee Baldwin added a single in the Knights’ win.
